Nella Aarne is a curator based in Bradford-on-Avon, UK. She is the Co-Director of Obsidian Coast – a project space hosting exhibitions, residencies and events – and the convener of the Of Animacy Reading Group. Her work considers learning through collaborative practice, generative responses to anxiety-inducing neoliberal professionalism, and feminist thought engaging with the boundless array of agents that make up the material world. She seeks to employ democratic approaches to knowledge production and to create safe environments in which people can gather around shared concerns with care and sensitivity. Currently, she also works as the Administrator of Visual Arts South West. Nella worked in multiple capacities at the ICA, London from 2012-2018, and has worked on curatorial projects for the ICA, Glasgow International, Art Licks Weekend and Science Museum. She earned her BA Hons in History of Art from the University of Leeds in 2012, completed the MFA Curating programme at Goldsmiths in 2015 and was the recipient of the Curatorial Junior Fellowship at Goldsmiths in 2015–16.
